Scrabble Cake

Happy Birthday Dave!

Last month my sister in-law asked if I could make a Scrabble cake for her husband's fortieth birthday. She wanted a chocolate cake with words related to getting older.

Never having played Scrabble before, I bought the game and had my husband play several rounds with me to get into the "zone". He really put my spelling to the test too.

Now having studied the tiles, board and the rules, I was set to go.

The final result? A 15 3/4" x 17" x 3" chocolate brownie cake with chocolate buttercream covered with chocolate fondant! A Triple Chocolate Score!

Christmas Penguin Cake

Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas!

This Christmas the theme was penguins. Here are my little fondant penguins getting ready for Christmas with one little guy feeling a little "Bah, humbugged".

Take Me Out to the Ball Game...

Baseball Glove Cake

"Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out with the crowd.
Buy me some peanuts and ..." cake???

Softball Glove Cake
To celebrate the end to an
other great season, I thought it would be fun to munch down on a softball glove. That would be a little leathery :) So I sculpted a softball glove cake out of a layer of chocolate and vanilla cake. Covered it in some fondant, added some details and voila!
